Hi, I'm Andrew!
I'm a speech pathologist and trauma-informed psychotherapist passionate about communication and mental health.
Communication grows out of relationships.
That shapes how I work with people of all ages, from young children and teenagers to adults, as well as the parents and families around them.
My goal is to help people communicate more fully, feel more understood, and work through the emotional and relational challenges that often sit beneath communication difficulties.
Trauma-Informed
In my mental health work, I take a trauma-informed approach that creates a safe and supportive space for growth.
Neurodiversity-Affirming
I accept people as they are, while supporting them to grow, develop, and achieve the goals that matter most to them.
Podcast Host
I also co-host the Mindful Speechies Podcast, exploring communication, mental health, and the people behind the work.
Qualifications
I completed my Master of Speech Pathology at Flinders University, where I received the Speech Pathology Association of Australia Prize for outstanding academic and clinical achievement. I'm a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and member of Speech Pathology Australia.
I later pursued advanced training through a Master of Science in Medicine (Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy) at the University of Sydney, and I'm a member of the Australia and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy (ANZAP).
Experience
Over the last decade I've worked across private practice, schools, and rehabilitation settings in both regional and metropolitan areas. I've also worked as a research assistant in Singapore and as an English teacher in Japan, experiences that deepened my understanding of language, culture, and communication.
My speech pathology interests include Developmental Language Disorders, literacy development, stuttering, and social communication. I have a particular interest in working with autistic young people and their families, because meaningful change happens through relationships, not just individual intervention.
My psychotherapy work covers anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties, often with people who want to understand themselves and why they think, feel and act the way they do.
Outside of Work
Outside of work I'm usually with my family and two young kids. I train kickboxing for fitness and fun, and enjoy strength training and general fitness. I love travelling and learning about other cultures, especially across Asia. I'm into reading and film, and there's always something new I'm working on or trying to figure out.
